DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge

A few weeks ago I wrote about DonorsChoose, an organisation that puts donors and teachers together. DonorsChoose allows people to pick the projects they want to fund. People can review proposals and select the proposals which appeal to them. During the month of October the DonorsChoose blogger challenge is running. Bloggers choose the projects they would like their readers to fund.

When I first heard of the group I was suitably impressed, and more than a little saddened that an organisation like this is needed in the richest country in the world. Now, having read some of the proposals I am even more impressed – and more shocked at the things that teachers need to ask for. There are lots of great teachers out there asking for a little bit of money to do great things. I like this model that connects donors directly with the projects they fund.

Update: Mike Dunford has some heartbreaking details of some of the projects at DonorsChoose.
