Upcoming blog carnival

The botanically-based blog carnival, Berry Go Round, will be up later today, for those who might be interested.  Also part 2 of my review of Darwin’s Dilemma is on the way.

New plant biology blog

Biofortified is a new addition to the (rather small) world of plant biology blogs.  Their blurb says:
Biofortified is a group website devoted to providing factual information and fostering discussion about plant genetics, especially genetic engineering. The site is written by grad students, professors, and the occasional guest expert.
Not a lot of content yet, but any [...]

Back

I’ve had this blog down for a while, but it’s time to bring it back up.  I probably won’t be updating for another couple weeks, but at least the old stuff is here.

Expelled sued

Yoko Ono, Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon have sued the makers of the creationist propaganda movie Expelled for their use of a portion of ‘Imagine’ without permission.
Ono, her son Sean Ono Lennon, and Julian Lennon, John Lennon’s son from his first marriage, along with privately held publisher EMI Blackwood Music Inc filed suit in U.S. [...]

FtK = Hitchens??

Huh? Really?
Is James serious, or am I being taken in by a joke (about people being taken in by a joke, of all things)? I mean, of course it makes a lot more sense than the alternative (i.e., that FtK is for real), but it’s still mind boggling (or is it mind bloggling?)
Update: Apparently [...]

Hello world!

It’s always fun to try something new. I already have three blogs over at Blogger, I figured I would try adding one over here…which really makes no sense, since two of the existing blogs are pretty much inactive, while the third seems to be doing fine where it is.

Summer is done

Classes start on Monday. Three months have slipped away. I wish I knew where they had gone.
To be honest, that’s nothing but a series of cliches. It isn’t the least bit surprising that summer has slipped away – we departed on the Appalachian trip just days after classes ended; after we got [...]

Sixteen years after the coup

Yesterday was the sixteenth anniversary of the Coup – coup attempt, in reality, since it didn’t succeed. Manning didn’t bother to show up, as usual – but thenm whether he knew anything about it or not, he is probably the biggest beneficiary from the tragedy.
As the anniversary approached there were the usual calls for [...]

Time flies

Over a month has passed since I last blogged. A lot has happened since then, and yet it feels like nothing has changed.
The summer has flown by. I don’t know how it is that we are in the final week of summer classes. I am at a loss to figure out where [...]

And so it ends

It was a great run, it was hugely exciting. I wish we had won something. I wish we had made it to the second round and challenged Germany. But we didn’t. It was the first time Trinidad and Tobago made it to the World Cup. I wish I had been there, I wish I had [...]
